Thyatira was the smallest city of the seven. It is interesting to note the longest letter was written to the smallest city! Today it is called Akhisar.

The workers were organized into trade guilds (think labor unions). These guilds were a major force in the city and had a major impact on the church. They were saturated with idolatry and immorality. And to not g​o along with these sinful practices meant possibly losing your job and even your life.
